O cartoon published on Monday, March 11, by the French newspaper Liberation shows a hungry man chasing rats in the middle of ruins where a corpse can be seen, while a woman hits his hand and draws his attention:“Ttt, not before sunset!”.

Following the publication of the caricature about hunger in the Palestinian territory, cartoonist Coco was the target of insults and death threats from internet users on the social network X, who wrote in English: “Run, run away, bitch… You’re going to be shot soon. The whole family dead”. Another adds: “They should have killed you on January 7th”referring to the terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo newsroom in 2015. Since then, Corinne Rey has lived under tight protection.

O cartoon He was also condemned by deputies from the French far-left party, France Insubmissa (LFI, in its French acronym). On the social network X, Sophia Chikirou, wrote that cartoonist Coco “You won’t get our hate, but you deserve it”while Sarah Legrain, described the caricature as being “simply disgusting”.

This Wednesday, March 13th, the editorial offices of several media outlets with which it collaborates, namely Libération, Charlie Hebdo, 28 minutes and Arte expressed their support for the cartoonist who has already thanked “all the support” and said “no reply to no tweets yet” but wanted to “thank you very much for your kind words”.

“I’m already focusing on my next drawing, determined to continue my work”, she wrote on her X social network account.
