In an interview with Inter TV, police chief Bruno Rezende reported that of the five arrested, only one was caught in the act and remains in prison.

“All those involved gave statements at the police station on duty, only one of them was charged, because it was said that he was the main aggressor, including throwing stones at the victim. The others involved were released on duty, but the investigation will evaluate both the participation of this defendant and the others involved, including all those who in some way made an attempt on this victim’s life.”

The delegate also explained that investigations are being carried out at the scene of the crime, this Thursday (14), with the intention of finding images from security cameras and identifying witnesses.

“We are also awaiting the autopsy reports and all the circumstances of the investigation, to individualize the participation of each person who was identified.”

The delegate also confirmed that he is investigating whether a motorcyclist and a cyclist were involved in the attacks, as reported by the suspects on the day of the events. These alleged attackers have not been identified.

Man attacked with stones to the head, punches and kicks dies in Montes Claros

According to the Military Police, the passengers on the bus noticed that the victim, who was on the street, was making gestures simulating filming. At that moment, one of the passengers threw an egg at the man, who allegedly retaliated by throwing a stone that broke the bus window.

Still according to the PM, some occupants got out of the vehicle and began attacking. Witnesses said they saw the men get out of the bus and run after the victim. They reported that the attacks only stopped when they shouted saying they were going to call the police.

The PM reported that it was found that at least two passengers actually participated in the attacks. They confirmed the involvement, but reported that two other people who were on a motorbike and a bicycle had started the attacks with sticks and helmets. These alleged attackers were not identified.

The victim was rescued by Samu and taken to Santa Casa de Montes Claros. The man was unconscious and had multiple lacerations to his face and skull.

The bus transported outsourced employees who worked for an egg production company. After the victim’s death, the company released a new position, this Thursday (14), and regretted and repudiated “any act of violence and aggression”.

The company also clarified that the service provision contract with the outsourced company was terminated and “continues to provide the necessary information to public authorities”. According to the note, the institution reaffirms that the bus was not operated by the company and its employees were not involved in the crime.
