A 67-year-old woman was strangled to death by her neighbor after asking to borrow some duct tape. The case was registered in September 2021, in Esclottes, France. This week, the man was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The victim, identified as Susan Higginbotham, was found dead inside the house where she lived in Esclottes, a village of just 150 inhabitants. She was attacked by her neighbor, 42-year-old Hichame Bahloul.
The Lot-et-Garonne Court of Justice heard that Susan was asking Bahloul for tape and was then brutally attacked.
According to documents, before the attack, Bahloul spent almost half of his life under psychiatric care.
At the time of the crime, he was living with his parents. Reports suggest that Bahloul was not happy to be back with his family and that he carried out the attack as a way of leaving his parents’ home.
