Body of young man killed in police pursuit is buried | Rio de Janeiro

Rio – The burial of José Jacksandro Almeida Queiroz, 18 years old, killed during a chase at Praia do Flamengo, in the South Zone, took place this Sunday (17) at the São Francisco Xavier Cemetery, in Caju, in the Port Zone. According to the victim’s family, he did not have a license and that may have been why he fled the police approach.

Earlier, his family was at the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to release the body. The action that led to the young man’s death took place in the early hours of Saturday (16), when a team from the 2nd BPM (Botafogo) tried to approach the motorcycle on which Jacksandro and his girlfriend, the 17-year-old teenager ML, were riding.

During the approach, the young man fled and a siege was carried out, at which point the victims’ vehicle collided against the curb. The teenager died instantly, while Jackson was taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon, in the South Zone, but he did not survive his injuries.

According to Edilma Almeida, the boy’s mother, José Jacksandro worked as an app delivery man to pay for the motorcycle that his brother had bought for him two months ago. The vehicle was her son’s passion, but she was afraid that he would have an accident because he was driving at high speeds. She said that the car had rosaries, as a form of protection, and on the day of the accident, she even asked her nephew and daughter-in-law not to let it race. “I said: ‘your motorcycle is insured, your life is not insured, my son'”, recalled Edilma.

The family also reported that the victim dreamed of joining the Army to become an elite sniper and even commented that he wanted to be like the snipers who hijacked a bus at Rio Bus Station, last Tuesday (12).

According to his uncle, José Jacksandro would present himself for enlistment in the corporation in the coming months. “His passion was his motorcycle. He’s a very good person, very present in the family, a very reserved boy. He was about to report to the Army on May 21st. He’s a good person and I I want justice”, said the taxi driver.

Relatives stated that the young man was loved by his friends and very attached to his family. He recently got a puppy from his mother, to help him with the depression he had been facing since his other dog had died. The victim lived in the Vila do João community, in Complexo da Maré, in the North Zone, as did his girlfriend.

There is still no information about the teenager’s funeral.
