A 19-year-old medical student died in a car accident while returning from a party in Catalão, in the southeast of Goiás. Witnesses reported to the police that the driver denied help to the victim and fled the scene. The case is investigated by the Goiás Civil Police.

The accident happened on Saturday morning, the 16th, in a rollover on Avenida Espírito Santo. The victim, identified as Júlia Ferreira Demétrio, was in a car with four other people. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.

According to the Fire Department, Júlia was rescued and taken to Santa Casa de Catalão, but did not survive her injuries. Of the five occupants of the vehicle, only the student died.

Daughter of a military firefighter, she was honored by friends and family on social media. On social media, publications show that she had passed the Medicine entrance exam at the beginning of this year.

Witnesses also reported that the driver did not provide assistance to the victims and fled the scene. A lawyer presented himself at the Catalão Police Station on behalf of the young man, whose identity was not disclosed, on Saturday afternoon.
