Pinhel promotes a performance of the Passion and Death of Jesus on Good Friday, March 29th

As part of Holy Week and Easter celebrations, Cidade Falcão will once again be the stage for the Reenactment of the Death and Burial of the Lord, an initiative organized by the Parish of Pinhel, with the support of the Municipality of Pinhel. It will be on the night of Good Friday, March 29th, from 9.30pm.

This year’s performance, which begins near the Castle Towers and will run through some streets in the historic area until reaching the Church of S. Luís, aims to represent not only Death, but also the Burial of the Lord.

The text and scenography, written by Father Jorge Castela, Parish Priest of Pinhel, based on biblical passages, intend to stage the different reactions that supposedly occurred to the death of Jesus, creating a reflection/meditation with characters such as Mary , mother of Jesus, the Apostles, Joseph of Arimathea and women, the civil, religious and military authorities of the time.

The organization also counts on the participation of some institutions and artists from the community.

It is hoped that it can be a privileged moment of meditation and prayer, as well as preserving a manifestation of Tradition and Culture that has been passed down from generation to generation and that remains very much alive in the municipality of Pinhel.
