Two military police officers who were escorting the vice-governor of Bahia, Geraldo Júnior, on a motorcycle, during an institutional agenda, were injured after a crash with a car, in the city of Ipiaú, in the south of Bahia. The accident happened on Tuesday morning (19).

According to the Military Police, a silver car, which was traveling on the wrong side of the road, collided with the corporation’s motorcycle, causing the accident. The pair were rescued and taken to Prado Valares General Hospital, in Jequié, in the southwest of the state, where they undergo tests and are not at risk of death.

The corporation reported that the 55th Independent Military Police Company (CIPM), the unit where the PMs are assigned, monitors the health status of the soldiers. The driver of the car was taken to the Ipiaú police station. There are no details whether he was released or was detained in the unit.

Geraldo Júnior was on his way to Ibirataia, also in the south of Bahia, to participate in the celebrations of São José, the city’s Catholic patron saint.
