A statement by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, about the murder of Marielle Franco and Anderson Gomes, took everyone by surprise this Tuesday (19). In the statement, the minister stated that the plea bargain of former military police officer Ronnie Lessa was approved by the Federal Supreme Court, and that the solution to the murder will soon be announced.

“We know that this collaboration is a means of obtaining evidence and brings very important elements that lead us to believe that we will soon have a solution to the murder of councilor Mariele Franco”said the minister.

However, after the speech, GloboNews released more details about the investigation. Live, César Tralli recalled Lessa’s arrest and pointed out how the police reached the possible perpetrators of the crime. “This all started back in July last year, when Élcio de Queiroz was arrested. He made a confession to the federal police, handing over those who participated in the murder with him.”said the journalist.

At the time, the former military police officer, who had been in prison since 2019, received a visit from agents at the Campo Grande federal penitentiary. At first, Lessa did not want to cooperate, however, after the police revealed Queiroz’s statement, he changed his mind: “[Ele] He received the federal officers suspiciously, without really knowing what they were going to do there. He even said: ‘You’re wasting your time, I have nothing to say’. Whoever was on this trip told Ronnie Lessa: ‘We have something to tell you, maybe it’s important for you to listen’. He [Lessa] He showed a certain indifference at first, but whoever was there in the prison was leaving when he said: ‘I want to know what it is’”.

“From that moment on, a long negotiation began for what is the most important and decisive phase of the investigation: extracting the details of what happened and who hired him to kill Marielle Franco. There were several meetings recorded on audio and video and, based on these revelations from Ronnie Lessa, the investigation is moving forward to reach the masterminds. Who hired and why”described.

The anchor also reinforced that the police already have all the answers to the questions, but they are waiting for the final adjustments to take the necessary measures. “The Federal Police already have all of this, and now they will move towards the final phase, because it involves a privileged forum and the name of a parliamentarian in the National Congress”he completed. Marielle and Anderson were murdered on March 14, 2018, in the center of Rio de Janeiro. The car they were in was hit by large-caliber gunfire. Only one person – an advisor to the then PSOL councilor – who was in the vehicle survived.

Lessa has been in prison since 2019 on charges of having shot at the car. He was expelled from the corporation in 2021 and arrested for concealing the weapons that would have been used in the crime. In addition to him, Élcio de Queiroz, Maxwell Simões and Edilson Barbosa are also investigated for their role in the deaths. According to g1, Lessa was the shooter, Queiroz was the driver, Simões helped disappear with the weapons and Barbosa dismantled the car. Since then, the police have been looking for those who ordered the crime.
