For several weeks, journalist Raquel Lito spoke to councilors, mayors, architects, cooperative members and tenants about combating the housing crisis. The response is underway, through the construction of 6,800 homes by 2026 for affordable rental, via PRR (not including cooperatives). The reporter followed Carlos Moedas’ visit to the construction of a building in Moscavide with 36 apartments for the middle class, and at one point the mayor of Lisbon asked one of the workers, most of whom were immigrants, if he knew who he was. “Coins!” he heard. He replied that he didn’t have “neither many coins nor many notes”, which provoked general laughter.


Ambassador’s security
There is something that comes with the position and that Dor Shapira, Israel’s ambassador to Portugal, cannot escape: upon arriving at the SATURDAY, for the interview with executive editor Maria Henrique Espada, in addition to the press officer, he brought two security guards, who always accompany him. In fact, he even prefers to leave the embassy for this very reason: when he receives people there, the security regime for guests is not light either. Warned at the beginning that there would be questions that he would find easy and also difficult ones, he answered them all calmly. At the end, he quipped: “And then the easy questions?”
