Sister of student who died in accident is outraged by driver fleeing after crash

The student’s sister Júlia Ferreira Demétrio, 19 years old, approved in medicine, who died in an accident in Catalão, in the southeast region of Goiás, was outraged by the driver’s escape after the crash. In an interview with TV Anhanguera, Beatriz Demétrio opened up about what happened (look above). According to investigations, in addition to not providing assistance to the victim, the driver was drunk.

“What hurts us most is the failure to provide help. It’s knowing that he abandoned my sister’s body as if she were a nobody”, said Beatriz Demétrio.

The accident occurred around 5:40 am on Saturday (16), on Avenida Espírito Santo, in the Paqueta subdivision. Beatriz reported that the suspect was drunk and trying to overtake in traffic before overturning the car. During this “joke”, the driver was blocked by another car, lost control and overturned.

“Júlia is here. She will hold my hand and I will hold her hand forever, until my last breath”, said Beatriz.

To g1, delegate Pedro Democh explained that Julia Demétrio was in the back seat at the time of the accident. Julia’s sister, Beatriz Demétrio, said that student was returning from a party, with four people in the car when the accident happened. Images from a security camera show the moment the driver of the car she was in lost control (look above).

According to the sister, after the accident, the driver who was driving the car Júlia was in was helped by friends and fled the scene. “They turned the car around, tampering with the crime scene. Another car with his ‘friends’ took him away from the scene and he fled,” she said.

“According to forensics, he was traveling at around 85 km/h. The maximum speed on the road is 60 km/h”, explained the police chief.

Julia was rescued by other people. She was later taken to the hospital, but she did not survive her injuries.

The Civil Police arrested the driver. The preventive arrest warrant was served on Monday (18). The 26-year-old driver arrived at the police station accompanied by three lawyers.

On TV Anhanguera, one of them denied that the young man was drunk and stated that he had just drunk an energy drink. The court decided to maintain the arrest of the person being investigated this Thursday (21).

Júlia was the daughter of a military firefighter. According to her sister, Júlia was approved in medicine at Universidade Paulista (Unip), in Campinas, São Paulo. On social media, the young woman shared many moments with her family and friends, always with a smile on her face and exuding joy.

“She was always a charitable person, she loved helping everyone, she would be an excellent professional. She was very sweet, always had a word of comfort for anyone in need, she cared a lot about her family and had the biggest heart in the world,” said her sister .
