Public auction of FC Porto academy land: m2 price below market and other reserves from municipal deputies – FC Porto

Municipal Assembly takes place this Monday

The sale by public auction of the Maia City Council land on which FC Porto intends to build its future academy is being voted on in the Municipal Assembly this Monday night. Before this procedure itself, eight municipal deputies signed up to speak, three of them from the PS, a party opposing the executive, mostly from the PSD.

Through the interventions of its deputies, the PS asked for the revaluation of the land, which, as Record advanced, stand at 3.36 million euros, for 23.89 euros per m2. Representative Cristiana Carvalho, for example, expressed her reservations.

“The PS has nothing to obstruct the project, we understand that it brings visibility to the municipality in an area that has been forgotten by the municipal collective. However, we cannot fail to draw attention to two small details: the verified opinions, such as that of the CCDR-N , with the measures proposed by the Chamber that are considered insufficient, is not binding, but we would like the President of the Chamber to clarify whether he will wait for the new opinion. We cannot also fail to mention that the value per square meter is clearly lower than the market average , which is why we cannot vote in favor of this proposal”, he said, adding that he will vote in favor, although with reservations.

In turn, David Tavares, deputy from the Bloco de Esquerda, raised questions about the fact that the proposed sale by public auction was already named after FC Porto. “How is it possible to call itself an FC Porto academy if FC Porto has not yet purchased any land. I have never seen a public auction where, before it is carried out, there are already approved projects. The president of FC Porto has already said that he will present the model on Wednesday. If the buyer is later prevented from carrying out the work because of the opinions, what will the cost be? These are issues that raise doubts for all maiatos, there are many doubts”, he stated, advancing his vote in favor, although with reservations.
