UA 36-year-old woman was arrested in Ibiza, Spain, last week, for a crime of fraud and another of false documentation.
According to the Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera, the facts that gave rise to the investigations date back to November 2023, when a citizen contacted a supposed real estate agent to rent a property in a location located in the center of Ibiza.
The owner of the property, after some visits by the real estate agency with interested parties, ended up deciding not to rent it, informing the agent of this fact.
However, some time later he discovered that advertisements for his property continued to be published without his consent, and he warned the woman that if they were not removed he would take legal action.
In this way, the agent continued to advertise the property, finding a victim, from whom she asked for a total of 45,000 euros in advance for an annual rent and with an option to purchase, agreeing on the terms of the contract, which was formalized.
At the beginning of 2024, the victim went to the supposed property, finding the owner inside, who informed her that he had removed his property from the rental advertisement portals in November.
When they both realized the fraud, they decided to report the real estate agent, who ended up being arrested last Wednesday. The woman already had a police record for crimes of the same type.
