Another night under the lights awaits Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with Ajax the visitors for the decisive second leg of our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday evening.
A clinical display in Amsterdam last week saw us return home from the first leg with a three-goal advantage. Lauren James struck the first blow before Sjoeke Nusken netted a brace which has put us in the driving seat for qualification for the semi-finals.
Matches continue to come thick and fast this month and we returned to WSL action with a short journey to West Ham United on Sunday, where we were made to work for a 2-0 victory with Aggie Beever-Jones and Erin Cuthbert getting the goals against a spirited Hammers side.

The form
A hectic schedule this month has thus far been navigated with aplomb. The Blues have conjured a run of six consecutive victories in which we have scored 14 goals and kept five clean sheets.
Alongside our European exploits, we reclaimed our position at the top of the league table with a victory over West Ham and progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals and League Cup final.
Ajax occupy second place in the Eredivisie and trail pace setters FC Twente by four points in what appears to be a two-horse race for the Dutch title.
With only one league defeat to their name after 18 matches, our opponents will arrive in London determined to put up a fight and forge a contest.
First leg revisited
Going into the second leg on home soil, the Blues possess a three-goal lead after our first-leg encounter with Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena last week.
The match was played in front of a record crowd for a women’s game in the Netherlands with 35,997 supporters in attendance.
James opened the scoring for the Blues before Nusken continued his impressive form with an arm which saw her collect the Player of the Match award.
