Two suspects of having committed the murder of Scarlety Mastroiany, in 2018, will be tried for the crime of qualified homicide this Tuesday morning (26). The trial should take place at the Jury Court in Londrina, in the north of Paraná, from 9 am.

The defendants are Kenny Roger Fioravante Pereira and Anderson Aparecido dos Santos Pires. In addition to the murder, they may also be responsible for the attempted murder of Bianca Duarte. At the time, both victims were violently attacked on Avenida Leste-Oeste in Londrina.

On April 1, 2022, a third suspect, José Mauro Lopes da Silva, had been arrested. He was sentenced to nine years in prison for the murder of Scarlety Mastroiany and three months for the bodily harm of Bianca. As the trial was split up, only now will the other two defendants be tried.

The crimes occurred in the early hours of December 10, 2018, on Avenida Leste-Oeste. The suspects are accused of having chased and attacked the victims with punches, kicks and stabs. Bianca managed to escape and hide, but Scarlety was murdered and abandoned on a public street.

For Néias – Londrina Feminicide Observatory, the case receives the political classification of transfeminicide. Like Bianca Duarte, Scarlety Mastroiany identified as a trans woman. “Understanding that the reasons that motivate crimes against trans women are fundamentally the same as those that characterize a person’s hatred and contempt for their female gender, the Néias demand that this type of violence and crime be treated as transfeminicide” , highlights the organization in Report 10 of the Observatory. The document was updated in March this year.
