After the tragic accident involving a small plane model Cessna Skylane, on March 18, in the city of Manoel Urbano, the government of Acre, through the State Department of Health (Sesacre), successfully concluded the transfer of all survivors to the Hospital and Emergency Room (HPS) 28 de Agosto – renowned Reference Center for High Complexity Burn Care in Amazonas, located in Manaus.

The first patient to be transferred was Amélia Marques Rocha, followed by pilot Valdir Roney de Souza Mendes, both on Friday, 22nd. In the early hours of Saturday, 23rd, patients Mateus Jefferson Fontes de Souza and Suanne Lostanaud Camello were also transferred.

Patient Bruno Fernando dos Santos was discharged and is already in the recovery process. The young Deonicilia Salomão Kalisto Kaxinawa, who was under medical care at the Manoel Urbano Mixed Unit, was discharged from hospital this Monday, 25th. She will continue with bandages at the basic health unit and will receive psychological support.

Lourenço Vasconcelos, director of the Rio Branco Emergency Room, reported the condition of the transferred patients: “We already have information that, in Manaus, Amélia showed a very significant improvement and has already been extubated. And pilot Valdir Roney is already in the weaning process, that is, he will be extubated too, so they have shown considerable improvement”.

The Amazonas Reference Center for High Complexity Burn Care is recognized for its expertise in treating victims with severe burns.

Since becoming aware of the accident, the Acre government has mobilized a task force to provide all possible support to the survivors, who were initially treated at the Manoel Urbano Mixed Unit.

Acre’s Health Secretary, Pedro Pascoal, summarized: “We are closely monitoring the progress of patients and ensuring all necessary support. It is gratifying to see that they are responding well to treatment and we hope for everyone’s complete recovery.”.
