First death from dengue in AL is a football player from Atalaia
The Ministry of Health confirmed the first death from dengue in Alagoas, a patient from Atalaia. The report does not give details of the victim, but the city council confirmed to g1 AL this Tuesday (26) that the patient was the football player João Leonardo, aged 19.
While hospitalized, the player underwent a blood collection for analysis at the Alagoas Central Laboratory (Lacen-AL), to confirm infection with the virus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
João was born in Atalaia and defended ASA and CSE in the youth categories of the Alagoano Championship. After showing symptoms of severe dengue, he was admitted to the State General Hospital (HGE), but did not survive.
Dengue cases double in Alagoas
According to a survey by the State Department of Health (Sesau), the state has already registered 3,045 suspected cases of dengue this year, of which 1,557 were confirmed. This quantity is more than double that recorded in the same period last year1,325 suspected cases and 822 confirmed.
Alagoas is still investigating 7 deaths due to suspected disease in the following municipalities:

- Arapiraca (1)
- Jequiá da Praia (1)
- Marshal Deodoro (1)
- Santana do Mundaú (1)
- União dos Palmares (1)
Unconfirmed baby death
According to MS records, in the state, currently, there are 2,531 probable cases of dengue, one death under investigation and one death from dengue confirmed.
