Jeremy Allen White, who stars in the award-winning series The Bear, is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in a film. The feature film is about the production of the 1982 album Nebraska, Variety confirmed.

No deal has been finalized, but Scott Cooper is being lined up to write and direct the film, titled Deliver Me From Nowhere, which comes from Gotham Group’s Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein.

A24 is also in negotiations to participate in the project. Scott Stuber, in his first major film project since leaving his role as film director at Netflix, has joined as producer.

The film is an adaptation of Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name. It follows Springsteen and the journey of creating his sixth studio album, a dark and stripped-down collection of songs that marked a new artistic direction for the rocker.

Springsteen recorded Nebraska on a four-track cassette tape in his New Jersey bedroom a few years before he and the E Street Band released Born in the USA.

White is at the top of her game as a result of The Bear, having won a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a SAG Award for playing Carmy Berzatto.

He is currently filming seasons 3 and 4 of the series in Chicago.
