Due to the accumulation of rain in the last few hours in Fernando de Noronha, the Chico Mendes Biodiversity Institute (ICMBio) suspended, this Wednesday (27), visits to Praia do Sancho, Baía dos Porcos and Trilha do Capim- Açu. The decision was taken as a security measure.

The organization informed that on Thursday (28), it will reevaluate the conditions of the attractions, when it will decide whether visitors will be allowed.

The Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency (Apac) reported that the weather forecast for Thursday is “skies varying from partially cloudy to cloudy with rapid rain showers with intensity varying from weak to moderate”, indicated the forecast.

Apac also reported that in the last 24 hours, 75 millimeters of rainfall were recorded. Until this Wednesday, 400.7 millimeters were recorded, which represents 152% more than the historical figure for this month, which is 263.60 millimeters.

The intense rain contradicts the forecast released by APAC at the end of February. The agency reported that the island would have a below-average rainy season due to the natural phenomenon El Niño. The months with the highest rainfall are March, April and May
