The Capital Inicial frontman expressed his admiration for Renato Russo, who in his opinion is the greatest name in the history of Brazilian Rock.

“Renato would be 64 years old today. I have never hidden my unconditional admiration for him, I think he is the biggest name in Brazilian Rock. I was lucky enough to meet him when I was 16. Since then my life has never been the same I spent hours and hours watching the Aborto Elétrico rehearsals, I also spent hours at his parents’ house talking about music, cinema and literature.

We went camping numerous times at waterfalls near Brasília. He and our gang went to zillions of parties and shows. In short, I had very good company when I was a teenager. Let’s go – today is the day to celebrate Renato and his work”, says the caption of the post shared by Dinho.

Capital Inicial posted a video on its Instagram profile that shows Dinho talking about Renato.

“I think my generation produced great names, great lyricists, great bands, you know? But nothing, no one compares to Renato. And you’re hearing this from someone who saw it, I saw it in front of me. I saw it, I went to the Electric Abortion trials.

There was a waterfall near Brasília called Tororó and we went camping there. Renato would go and take his guitar. And Renato kept playing ‘Eduardo e Mônica’, ‘Faroeste Caboclo’, you know, he kept playing these songs around a campfire.
