A man has been arrested and charged with gross negligence manslaughter over the death of TV presenter and former reality TV star George Gilbey at the age of 40. The famous man was the victim of an accident at work when he fell from the top of a construction site where he was working. Until then, no other person was known to be responsible for the incident.

George was a finalist in the 14th edition of Celebrity Big Brother, a box-only version of the local Big Brother. He was known for his presence on the comedy show ‘Gogglebox’, which he starred in alongside his parents.

According to the DailyMailpolice in Essex, England, announced that a man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the tragic incident.

George Gilbey was an electrician with more than 10 years of experience and suffered the fall at around 10am on Wednesday (27). Despite the rapid mobilization of emergency services, the TV star succumbed to his injuries.

Police confirmed the arrest of the man accused of negligence causing the crash: “As part of our ongoing investigation into the death of a man in Campfield Road, Shoebury, on Wednesday, March 27, we arrested a man at the 40-year-old from the Witham area on suspicion of manslaughter through gross negligence. Our inquiries are ongoing.”

The boy’s family left ‘Gogglebox’ in 2014, when he entered the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house. George, who had a daughter in 2016, reached the final of the 14th edition of the program.

“George was part of the ‘Gogglebox’ family for eight seasons, along with his parents,” Channel 4 officials wrote in a statement about his death. “Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends.”
