The Oklahoma City Thunder (50-22) are set to take on the Phoenix Suns on Friday to rap up a two-game home stand before heading out East for a lengthy road swing. This week, Superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander revealed he has been dealing with a quad injury since March 20 when he got banged up against the Utah Jazz.

After playing through injury for three games, Gilgeous-Alexander missed Wednesday’s contest against the Houston Rockets with a thigh injury and was described by head coach Mark Daigneault as day-to-day.

On the initial injury report for tomorrow’s game against the Suns, the Oklahoma City Thunder have tabbed their superstar Gilgeous-Alexander (quad) as doubtful for Friday’s contest.

Without their superstar, the Oklahoma City Thunder took half a quarter to settle in against the Houston Rockets between eventually pushing the game to overtime where the Bricktown boys fell 132-126.

According to The NBA’s Injury Policy, someone tabbed as doubtful is for a 25 percent or less a player will suit up in the game. While the Oklahoma City Thunder will still conduct shoot around in the morning which could help determine the full status of Gilgeous-Alexander, the odds of him playing against the Suns are low.

Oklahoma City is in the midst of a heated battle atop the Western Conference, but more important than the standings race is a healthy superstar entering the postseason.

Up next, the Thunder will head to New York to take on the Knicks on Sunday. It is unclear if Gilgeous-Alexander will return for that contest.
