The GNR is carrying out Operation ‘Easter 2024’ and on yesterday, March 28, between 00:00 and 23:59, with actions carried out by the military from the Territorial Commands and the National Traffic Unit.
In the first provisional data, the GNR registered a total of 4,910 drivers inspected, of which 25 were driving with excess alcohol and, of these, 10 were arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 1.2 g/l .
6 people were also arrested for driving without a legal license.
Foral still detected 855 road traffic violations: 128 for speeding; 148 due to lack of mandatory periodic inspection; 31 due to anomalies in lighting and signaling systems; 36 for improper use of a cell phone while driving; 21 due to lack of or incorrect use of a seat belt and/or child restraint system; 44 due to lack of mandatory civil liability insurance.
During this period, the GNR recorded 270 road accidents, resulting in 1 fatality, 3 serious injuries and 76 minor injuries.
The fatality was recorded in the accident that occurred on March 28, at 9:56 pm, on highway (AE) 16, km 1,100 towards Cascais – Sintra, with a collision between two vehicles, which resulted in a fatal victim, a 26-year-old woman. years.
The Guard advises attentive, cautious and defensive driving, so that the festive period can be spent safely.
To travel safely this festive season, GNR advises, in particular:
– Adapt the speed to the weather conditions, the condition of the road and the volume of road traffic;
– Avoid maneuvers that could result in traffic obstruction or that could, in any way, lead to accidents.
