MEIs in Rio who work in sales have until today to apply for State Registration at the Finance Department

Individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs) in the State of Rio who work in sales have until this Friday (29th) to request State Registration from the Finance Department. Registration is mandatory for professionals in the category who carry out activities subject to ICMS in Rio de Janeiro.

From March 30th, anyone who has not met the application deadline may be subject to inspection by the State Revenue Service. According to the Treasury, almost 125 thousand MEIs of sales are already registered.

“Once again we warn taxpayers not to miss the last chance to register. Registrations not made or made after this date will be subject to penalties in future inspections. Therefore, it is extremely necessary for professionals to register so as not to have their sales affected by future impediments due to not being regularized”, highlighted the State Undersecretary of Revenue Adilson Zegur.

How to proceed

• To request registration, the MEI must access the portal of the Commercial Board of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Jucerja) and click on “Services”, “REGIN”, “REGIN Services” and “Request for Legalization of Registration”.
• You then need to log in to the system to fill out and submit the form.
• The request is responded to within one hour.

Benefits

With registration, individual sales microentrepreneurs can offer products on marketplace platforms that require registration with the Treasury Department and purchase goods from suppliers that also make this requirement.

You can also issue the Electronic Invoice (NF-e) and the electronic Consumer Invoice (NFC-e) for free via your cell phone, in the Nota Fiscal Fácil (NFF) application.
