At least three people were injured after a crash between a trailer and a tourist bus on BR-040, in Nova Lima, metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The accident occurred in the Jardim Canada neighborhood, towards Belo Horizonte. Samu, Fire Department and Via 040 were called to the scene.
As reported by the Fire Department, the driver of the mining truck reported that a passenger car had suddenly braked in front of him and, therefore, he also braked. The bus, which was following behind, was unable to stop in time and crashed violently into the back of the trailer.
With the impact of the crash, the truck was thrown off the road and stopped in the vegetation on the sides of the highway. There were 43 passengers and two drivers on the bus. Three people on the bus were rescued in a more serious condition and taken to HPS João XXIII. Among those rescued, a 44-year-old woman ended up trapped in the seats and had to be removed by the teams.
The bus left Rio de Janeiro and would arrive in Belo Horizonte on Monday morning. The highway was partially closed, with only one lane open towards BH. The congestion exceeded 6 km.
