From this Monday onwards, the IRS declaration can now be submitted. The period runs until June 30th.
Taxpayers have three months to submit their income declaration for 2023. After updating the household or checking invoices, the IRS declaration now follows, if you are not exempt from submitting this declaration.
If you are also not covered by the automatic IRS, you must prepare to fill out the Model 3 declaration, as well as the Annexes that are required (these depend on the type of income you obtained).
The president of the Tax Workers Union (STI) does not anticipate difficulties in the functioning of the tax machine with the delivery of the IRS declaration, but advises taxpayers not to focus on the beginning and end of the process.
For Gonçalo Rodrigues, the ideal for taxpayers “is not to rush to the beginning or leave this declarative obligation until the end”, similar to experts who recommend waiting around 15 days before submitting the declaration, as this gives the Authority Tax (AT) time to correct any errors or provide necessary clarifications.
As in the previous year, the deadline for submitting the annual IRS declaration applies to all types of income, regardless of whether it is work, pensions, capital or property (rent), and must be done exclusively via electronically, through the Finance Portal.
