Vasco Gil’s animal adoption campaign kicked off today in major shopping centers in Funchal

The Funchal City Council, through its Animal Welfare Unit, promotes, between today and April 21st, the 2nd Adoption Campaign with several animals from the Vasco Gil Kennel, in the 3 large Shopping Centers of Funchal, Plaza Madeira , Madeira Shopping and Fórum Madeira, with a view to showcasing some of the animals, which currently live in the Municipal Kennel and where they are waiting for a family that wants to adopt them.

According to the councilor responsible for the Animal Cause, Nádia Coelho, “we used images of animals, in almost life size, accompanied by a text about their history and some characteristics, around 70 animals will be on display, dogs and cats, which they meet the adoption criteria and are animals that are perfectly adaptable to new environments.”

At the Plaza Madeira Shopping Center and Madeira Shopping, the exhibition will run from April 21st and will be on floor 2 and floor 0, respectively. At Fórum Madeira, the exhibition will take place between April 8th and 21st on floor 2.

Nádia Coelho also states that “in this way, and with the fundamental support of the 3 Shopping Centers, we intend to contribute to the increase in adoptions at the Kennel, allowing many more animals a happy ending.” It should be noted that, in 2023, 293 animals were adopted at the Vasco Gil Municipal Kennel, however, at this moment, 365 animals still remain under the management of the Funchal City Council.
