The victims of the accident involving a minibus on PR-317, northwest of Paraná, were taken to hospitals in the region, Colorado, Sarandi and Maringá. Some in serious condition.
Of the 22 people who were in the group, three died at the scene. Nineteen people were taken to hospital units with injuries.
Luciene Calixto is the mother of one of the boys who was hospitalized in serious condition. With a heavy heart, she told RICtv that now all she has to do is pray and wait.
“Is very sad. We don’t wait. It was a worship tour they came for. Now we just have to wait for Regent’s people to pray and wait,” she said.
No belt
According to the commander of the 4th CIA of the State Highway Police, Captain Hericson Cruz, based on the kinematics of the accident, the passengers were not wearing seat belts.
“Even given the type of accident, it possibly indicates that everyone was not wearing a seat belt, which led to this number of injuries and deaths,” he explained.
According to the police, the driver of the car, who possibly overtook and was the reason the bus driver left the road, did not stop at the scene.
The accident
In the collective, there was a group of believers who were returning from a religious event in Maringá, northwest of Paraná, heading to Regente Feijó, in the interior of São Paulo.
The minibus was traveling along PR-317, towards Nossa Senhora das Graças to Santo Inácio, northwest of the state, when the driver lost control of the steering and the bus overturned.
