Suspect of planning to kill his parents in SC is caught with a knife before the crime

The 18-year-old man suspected of planning the death of his own parents was charged by the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC), along with the friend suspected of helping him. The two will be charged with triple homicide and attempted homicide, as well as corruption of minors, due to the girlfriend of one of them.

The crime took place on January 29 in Indaial, in Vale do Itajaí, in Santa Catarina. According to the Civil Police investigation, the son and his friend went to the victims’ house and stabbed them.

The father, businessman Márcio Elizeu Melo, aged 45, died. The mother, 39, survived and needed surgery.

The MPSC announced this Monday (1st) that the son and his friend were reported. The qualifiers for the crimes are a clumsy, somewhat cruel motive, done in a way that surprised the victims, and a resource that made their defense difficult.

In relation to the crime of corruption of minors, he is linked to his friend’s girlfriend. According to Martins, she, who is 17 years old, would also have helped the pair of executioners on the day of the crime.

Like her boyfriend, the young woman would also benefit from the couple’s son with a cash reward, according to the police.

Their plan, according to the investigator, was to carry out the crime and then serve as each other’s alibi. This way, the friend would say that the son was at his house, and not at his parents’ residence, at the time of the murders and vice versa.

The friend’s girlfriend would also say that her son was at his house.

According to the complaint, the two planned the crime for at least two months.

The son, knowing where the house’s security cameras were located, went to the guest room, where there was no monitoring, and left the window open.

He then left the house and went to his friend’s residence the day before the crime. In the early hours of January 29, the two returned to the victims’ property and entered through the window left open.

The plan, according to the Civil Police, was for the victims to be killed while they were sleeping.

However, there was an error that changed the dynamics of events. The son dropped a knife along the way and had to go through the living room, where there is a camera, to get to the kitchen and get a new utensil.

With that, the father heard the noise and woke up. He was then stabbed by his friend. The mother woke up and was attacked by her son and then by his friend.

According to the complaint, the woman did not die because the accused fled thinking she was dead. However, she woke up and managed to call for help. She was taken to the hospital and saved.

The motivation for the crime was that the son wanted the couple’s inheritance to buy a place to produce drugs. He promised his partner his parents’ truck, a Montana, and a sum of money.

The 18-year-old was an only child and worked at his father’s metallurgical company. According to the delegate, he did not like working or studying.

The son told the Civil Police that he committed the crimes because the two did not treat him as a son, but as a mere employee, according to the delegate. He worked at his father’s company.

“It was from there that he decided, in his words, to ‘eliminate them'”, said Martins.
