His team refused to return to the field for the game against Sestao River, in the Third Division of Spain, and the act gained great repercussion in the country. Two days later, the Senegalese player guarantees: Vinicius Junior’s fight against racism motivated him to take such action.

In an interview with Radio COPE chainSarr, 23 years old, thanked the Brazilian for the support shown shortly after the episode. The Real Madrid striker made a post on social media in which he cited the insults suffered by the Rayo Majadahonda player and two other cases on the same day in Spain.

“I will go to death with him. Because he also lived several times, and when he was living, I said ‘It’s not normal’. Enough with racism… it has no place in sport. It makes no sense,” Sarr said.

Spanish team goalkeeper fights with fan after suffering racism

The Rayo Majadahonda goalkeeper said he responded to Vini Jr.’s message and thanked him for the Real Madrid striker’s support. Sarr reinforced that the Brazilian cannot be the only voice in the fight against racism in Spanish football.

– I am very, very proud of him and I thank him for supporting us and also fighting against racism. He alone can’t…

“If all players of our skin color were like him, I believe racism would end,” said the goalkeeper.

Rayo Majadahonda’s match against Sestao River was suspended 45 minutes into the second half after Sarr’s team refused to return to the field. Sarr received support from his teammates after being a victim of racism. The Senegalese goalkeeper’s team was trailing 2-1 when the game was stopped.
