The Mato-Grossense Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) released data indicating that the price of milk collected in February 2024 in Mato Grosso was R$ 1.95 per liter, registering an increase of 0.77% in relation to January 2024. same year. This increase was mainly driven by the northern region of the state.
Traditionally, the beginning of the year is marked by the period of greatest concentration of rain in Mato Grosso, which generally results in an increase in milk production. However, irregular rains affected production in some regions of the state, also affecting the price of milk paid to producers.
All regions showed an increase in the price of milk in February compared to January, with emphasis on the North region, which recorded the highest value in the last month, reaching R$ 2.22 per liter, an increase of 4.84% compared to to the previous month.
As for funding, the rate in Mato Grosso was 59.30% in February 2024, representing a drop of 3.50 percentage points compared to January of the same year. In all regions, there was a decline in the volume of milk collected compared to January. The Northeast and Center-South regions stood out with drops of 11.14 percentage points and 10.06 percentage points, respectively.
With the end of the rainy season approaching in Mato Grosso, the price of milk is expected to continue rising in the coming months, according to Imea projections.
