Crime shocked the population of Tubarão in 2014. Mother is the main suspect and remains missing
Ten years after the brutal murder of the girl Carol Seidler Calegari, the journalist from Tubarão Silvana Mendes Lucas will release a book-report on the facts surrounding the seven-year-old girl’s crime and the disappearance of her mother.

The girl was first reported missing and then her body, showing signs of violence, was found in a small room, in a cardboard box, in the early hours of December 23rd.

The child’s mother, Silvana Seidler, disappeared shortly after going to the police station the night before. She, a relative and her ex-husband went to the police to testify about Carol’s disappearance, amid conflicting versions of the facts.
To this day, no one has heard from Silvana, who ended up being indicted for the girl’s murder and is even wanted by Interpol.
Journalist Silvana, who at the time of the events was a reporter for the newspaper Notisul and followed the case very closely, is producing rich journalistic material about everything that involved, and still involves, this intriguing story. A persistent reader, especially of the “literary journalism” style, Silvana has dedicated herself to transforming the real story that still draws the attention of people from Santa Catarina into a report book that will be released in the second half of 2024.
“This material is the result of a lot of research work, interviews, mostly from primary sources, observations and a lot of reading. There were many articles, which I followed, wrote and published extensively over the months that followed Carol’s departure. Furthermore, my taste for literature, more specifically “true crime” and the receptivity of family members of those involved, police authorities and professional colleagues, helped me to have the necessary foundations to tell this story”, says Silvana.
“At no point, in the pages of the work, was anything invented by me. I don’t intend to prove anything. This is a work written by a journalist. Including, family members of the girl Carol, maternal and paternal, who agreed to speak, and public security authorities have their real names mentioned, while other characters are presented with pseudonyms, especially because the case is not yet closed and investigations continue”, he explains. the author.
The book will be released by the publisher I Livro You, from Tubarão, with the writer Ramires Linhares as editor and the support of other professionals in the legal and literary fields.
