Complaint of son who orchestrated his parents’ death in Indaial brings new cruel detail

Two young people identified as responsible for killing Márcio Elizeu Melo and trying to murder his wife were charged by the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina. One of them is the couple’s son, who would have orchestrated the entire crime. The other is the boy’s friend and companion, who would be paid for helping him. The complaint is a bureaucratic step for the pair to be brought to trial. However, this time, it brought a new revelation about the brutality of the attack: the man lost his life after being stabbed 17 times.

The young people are 18 years old, have been in pre-trial detention since February 1st and have confessed to the crime. They will be charged with murder and attempted murder in three cases, with the aggravating factors of gross, cruel motive, commission by surprise and an appeal that made it difficult for the victims to defend themselves. The duo was also denounced for corruption of minors, for the involvement of a teenager, who is also seized by court order.

Investigations indicate that two months before the crime, the son began planning the murder of his parents. He gave his friend details about the location of the security cameras inside the property, indicating where the blind spot was that would allow entry into the house without being recorded.

The police maintain that, on the night of January 28, the couple went to sleep and their son left the property with a backpack on his back, at around 10:50 pm. He left the guest room window open. The boy went to his friend’s house, changed clothes and went together to the couple’s residence.

As it was an area with many cameras, the duo decided to go through the woods and the son ended up losing the knife he was going to use. Just before half past midnight, the two entered the house and the son went to the kitchen to get another knife, as he was unarmed. The security camera recorded the moment.

The father heard the noise and woke up, which was not in the plan, as the young man said the idea was to commit the crime while the couple slept. After stab victimsthey returned to the friend’s house, where the son changed into the clothes he appeared wearing when he left home.

Around 1 am, the police were called. An hour after that, the young man appeared.

A neighbor offered to tell the young man about the attack, to comfort him, without suspecting his involvement. However, the young man’s behavior would have aroused suspicion from that moment on, as he arrived justifying his whereabouts that morning.

What he didn’t expect was that the alibi would soon be unmasked and his friend would talk about having been “hired” to participate in the crime. The two were arrested on February 1st and confessed to the crime. His father died and his mother, despite a series of blows, survived.

The motivation would be “great parental hatred”, in the words of police chief Filipe Martins. He was an only child.

The cruelty of the case shocked even the Civil Police. Investigations showed that the son reached handpick which of the two he would kill himself. According to Martins, the son insisted on killing his father and his friend would be responsible for murdering his mother.

However, the man woke up and started fighting with his friend, who ended up killing him.

— The son then started stabbing his own mother. When the friend finished killing the father, he came and also hit the woman — reveals the police officer.

Civil Police point out that after the deaths they wanted to enter the production and sale of marijuana. The son would have offered R$50,000 plus a car as payment for his friend to help him kill his parents. After that, the idea was to sell part of the family assets.

The money would be used to buy a farm. The son wanted to take care of the cultivation of the drug while the partner would be responsible for selling it.
