The Civil Police arrested three suspects for participating in the murder of a father and 2-year-old daughter, in Goiânia, this Tuesday (2). The investigation finds a group of traffickers from Goiás responsible for killing the two victims in Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, on February 9th. Four search and seizure warrants and four breach of telephone confidentiality were also executed.

The operation is being carried out in Goiás, Mato Grosso and Rio de Janeiro. According to delegate Rhaniel Almeida, from the Civil Police, cell phones and vehicles were seized, one of which was a luxury car. Three people were arrested on suspicion of participating in the crime and one suspect remains at large.

João Vitor Menez Soares, 22, and his 2-year-old daughter were shot dead after two men broke into their home and fired several shots at the family in Barra do Garças, Mato Grosso, on February 9. The child’s mother and João’s companion was also shot, but survived.

According to the Military Police, the woman said that the three were at home when they were surprised by the suspects. After the crime, the pair fled the scene.

João Vitor was found dead when the police arrived. The child was taken by his mother, with the help of a neighbor, to an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), but was already dead when he arrived, according to the police.

The police reported that João Vitor had a criminal record and was a fugitive from justice. According to reports from his partner, the family had moved from Goiânia (GO) to Barra do Garças about six months ago.

At the crime scene, three blood-stained cell phones and two pieces of marijuana were found.
