On Tuesday, a grand jury in New York indicted two men on felony charges of distributing heroin containing fentanyl, allegedly linked to the death of Cecilia Gentilia transgender activist who also participated in the series Posefrom the FX channel.

Michael Kuilan44 years old, and Antonio Venti, 52 years old, faces three charges related to the distribution of heroin and fentanyl, as detailed in the indictment published by the North American magazine PEOPLE. Kuilan is also being charged with illegal possession of a weapon. If convicted, prosecutors tell the outlet that they could face life in prison.

“Cecilia Gentili, a brilliant activist and leader in New York’s transgender community, was tragically the victim of heroin poisoning containing fentanyl in her Brooklyn residence,” Breon Peace, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a statement. the press.

“Today, the alleged criminals responsible for selling the fatal dose of drugs to Gentili were arrested,” he added. “Fentanyl represents a public health crisis. Our office is committed to seeking justice for the many New Yorkers who have lost loved ones to this deadly drug.”

According to authorities, text messages, phone records and other evidence led investigators to believe that Venti sold the fentanyl-laced heroin to Gentili on Feb. 5, while Kuilan allegedly provided the drugs to Venti.

On February 6, New York police officers went to the activist’s residence in Brooklyn, following a call to the police by her partner, as reported by authorities in the police report. There, Gentili was found dead in her room.
