OIL PRODUCTION IN BRAZIL FALLEN BY 2% IN FEBRUARY COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS MONTH

Brazil had lower oil production in February. The data was revealed today (2) by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). In total, the country produced 3.448 million barrels per day during the period, which represents a drop of 2.0% compared to the previous month and an increase of 5.7% compared to February 2023. In natural gas, production reached 148.63 million cubic meters per day in February, a decrease of 3.4% compared to January 2024 and an increase of 1.4% compared to February 2023.

Specifically in the pre-salt layer, which accounts for 76% of national production, the total extracted in the month was 3.336 million barrels of oil equivalent (oil + gas). This number represents a reduction of 1.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 2.1% compared to the same month in 2023. 2.623 million barrels of oil were produced per day and 113.46 million m³ daily of natural gas through 148 wells.

In February, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 744.68 thousand barrels per day of oil and 37.30 million m³ per day of natural gas . The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara (photo), in the shared Mero deposit, with 179,593 barrels of oil per day and 11.56 million m³ per day of gas.
