Samsung will increase the price of insurance in the US, but…

All about Samsung

Of course, we don’t buy something thinking about it breaking or being stolen. But there’s nothing like being forewarned. Insurance can be expensive and boring, but it’s not necessary. Many people go a lifetime without using it, but simply not renewing it can mean an unexpected visit from old Murphy.

I always do it for my car – and I used one twice in 15 years, for towing. For cell phones, however, I never did it. But I know a lot of people who have it (especially those who bought the most expensive models on the market).

That said, I just discovered that Samsung is going to adjust the price of its official insurance in the United States. Care+ will be adjusted by US$2 for current subscribers. In other words, it will go from the current US$8 or US$18 to US$10 or US$20. The change starts in May.

The news would not be pleasant if it stopped there. Happy Americans, however, will receive an extra sir in exchange for that $2.

For subscribers of the maximum coverage plan, Samsung will allow unlimited battery replacements. To do this, simply prove that it is operating at less than 79% of its capacity. Take a simple test, show that you are a subscriber and remove your brand new battery!

The information is from 9TO5Google.

And how does it work in Brazil?

This battery proposal included in the insurance is exclusive to the USA. The Korean company does not say anything about this possibility in Brazil – nor does it indicate whether it is working with any expected arrival date.

Samsung Care+, on the other hand, already exists here – and covers the entire Galaxy line.

  • The simplest, “Protected Screen” costs around R$69 for the older models in the A and M lines.
  • The cheapest, with an extended warranty, in the Galaxy S line costs R$429.
  • The savory ones are from the Z Fold line, the brand’s foldables.
  • Basic insurance costs R$1,029 and complete insurance, for accidental damage + theft, costs R$3,899.

Other Samsung packages

Well, I’m not going to recommend here whether or not you should pay for insurance. This is a decision for you, your family and the broker, eventually.

It’s up to me to inform you of market news. And give some tips, of course.

Ah, I think it’s too expensive to pay for insurance – I’ll take the risk. Well, if you own a Galaxy, know that you can join an benefits program for Brazilian customers of the Korean company.

Samsung VIP began operating in October last year and offers exclusive discounts and benefits to subscribers – including a Care+ subscription.

One of the coolest tools is the so-called “Galaxy Padlock”, which makes it possible to quickly lock the brand’s smartphone in case of loss or theft.
