A brutal crime that occurred in Pinhalzinho, a city in the west of Santa Catarina, was solved by the police within 12 hours. Agents identified and arrested the suspect who murdered an 85-year-old woman with a kick to the face. Olívia Steffens had her store invaded on Tuesday morning (2) and was beaten to death.

According to the Civil Police, with a pocket knife in hand, the man made several threats to the victim and demanded that she hand over all the money she had in the cash register. She, however, refused to give the money, which is when she started to be beaten.

When police officers arrived at the scene, she was lying on the floor, with a lot of bleeding on her face, already lifeless. According to delegate André Marafiga Costa, what caused her death was a kick to her face.

After isolating the area and calling the Scientific Police to carry out an investigation at the scene, until then with no suspicion of motivation or authorship of the crime, the civil police began working to solve the murder. After hours of searching, at around 7:30 pm, they found the suspect in the São Pedro neighborhood, still in Pinhalzinho.

At the time of the approach, he confessed to the murder and claimed that the motivation was financial. At the address, agents found the clothes used during the crime, as well as the pocket knife.

He was arrested and taken to the police station. The man was charged with robbery.
