“Our hearts are overflowing with tenderness…”

Rita Ferro Rodrigues has been spending the last few days in Thailand with her children and, in this sense, has been sharing different photographic records with her followers every day. This Wednesday the public figure appeared in an elephant sanctuary.

“The video on the boat (in which the dawn light turns the lake silver) has no filter and so, wrapped in warm fog and sailing in mirror-like water, our journey back to the boarding pier was like this. At 7 am, we, the suitcases, yogurt with fruit in paper cups, some sandwiches, a sleepy and silent boatman. We enjoyed the early morning introspection to prepare for the first day in Phuket. As soon as we arrived at @saii.lagunaphuket, a glass of very fresh apple juice welcomed us, but we didn’t even have time to go to the room…“, Rita Ferro Rodrigues began by writing on Instagram.

Rita Ferro Rodrigues continued to tell everything she experienced, in detail: “The transfer to @phuketelephantsanctuary was waiting for us to meet the elephants. This ethical sanctuary is a reference not only in Thailand but throughout the world. Here, the money from tourists who visit the sanctuary – and no, you cannot disturb the animals, the only time we interact with them is to feed them – is used to remove the majestic animals from the violent environments where they live (circuses, tourist tours , “entertainment” etc.) and to feed them, guarantee medical care and an old age in peace and quiet in their natural habitat“.

“All the animals in the sanctuary have horrendous stories of violence and human exploitation marked on their bodies. Their memory has to be ours so that mentalities can be changed and not one more tourist pays to sit on top of an elephant or to watch it do “funny things” that involved years of torture and fear“, explained Rita Ferro Rodrigues, about the animals.

“At the end of the afternoon, with our hearts overflowing with tenderness for these magical giants, we still arrived in time for a swim in the sea and to watch an incredible and free show: the sunset. We arrived at bed every day exhausted and dazzled , to the same extent“, added the public figure.
