O Sporting de Braga today expressed “deep regret” over the death of its former player Armando Costa, who contributed to winning the Portuguese Football Cup in 1966.

Armando Costa, who died aged 92, played for Sporting de Braga between the 1950/51 and 1965/66 seasons, having also won the II Division championship in 1963/64, as well as the Portuguese Cup in 1965/66.

“An example of dedication and commitment, Armando Costa dedicated his entire sporting career to Sporting de Braga, having even captained our team over seven seasons”, can be read in a note published on the Braga club’s official website, addressed “to family and friends, our deepest condolences.”
