Two unidentified professionals were hospitalized and other people were injured after an accident during the filming of The Pickup, a new comedy starring Eddie Murphy for Prime Video. A production truck collided with a vehicle. The comedian was not on set at the time of the collision.
According to sources interviewed by the foreign press, the truck’s steering wheel had “locked”, resulting in the crash. Professionals who spoke about the accident on condition of anonymity said that the scene of action was not complicated and that there is no logical explanation for what happened.
The collision occurred on Saturday (20), in the Atlanta region, Georgia (USA), but was only confirmed this Tuesday (23) by Amazon. While some involved only suffered minor injuries, the two hospitalized suffered more serious conditions, with broken bones. One of them has already been discharged, and the other is expected to make a full recovery.

The Pickup is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four), and the cast includes Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson and Eva Longoria. None of them were on set during the accident – the sequence was the responsibility of the second unit team, which traditionally shoots action scenes that do not involve the protagonists.
Filming began on February 20, in the Atlanta region, and there is still no release date — the accident, according to sources, should not affect Prime Video’s schedule for the film.
The comedy is part of the agreement that Murphy signed with Amazon in 2021 to produce new features after the good repercussions of A Prince in New York 2 (2021), produced by Paramount and acquired by streaming during the pandemic, when it made no sense release it in theaters.
