Olympic champion with the Brazilian team puts gold medal on sale for R$170 thousand

One gold medalachieved in Rio 2016 Olympic Games for the Brazilian soccer teamwent on sale on the internet on Monday, 22, by R$ 170 thousand.

The medal, which weighs 500g/600g and was produced with silver and gold, has the original case, the pin given to champion athletes and is in a good state of preservation.

The only one available for sale in the world, the gold piece was produced by Brazilian Mint. The seller’s identity was preserved by Sports Memorabiliawebsite responsible for the ad. (Check it out here)

At the Rio Olympics, the following players received this medal: Weverton, Uilson, Zeca, William, Douglas Santos, Rodrigo Caio, Marquinhos, Luan Garcia, Walace, Rodrigo Dourado, Thiago Maia, Renato Augusto, Rafinha Alcântara, Felipe Anderson, Luan, Gabigol, Gabriel Jesus and Neymar.

In addition to the symbolic value of the medal, it is estimated that winning the gold yielded around US$ 100 thousand (R$ 515 million, at current prices) to each athlete. The amount obtained from the sale of the medal will be donated to social initiatives and/or institutions.
