A 68-year-old man was seriously injured this Wednesday morning after being run over by an agricultural tractor that he “left unlocked” in the village of Alvites (Mirandela), reveals the commander of the Mirandela volunteer firefighters.
The victim had “thoracic and head trauma”, adds Luís Carlos Soares, and was helitransported to a hospital in Porto.
The CODU alerted to the accident at 8:05 am, and the Mirandela firefighters were called to the scene, with the support of two ambulances, the SIV (Immediate Life Support) ambulance team from INEM Mirandela and the helicopter from the INEM, based in Macedo de Cavaleiros.
There were GNR soldiers at the scene taking care of the incident.
In the space of a week, this is the fourth accident involving agricultural tractors in the district of Bragança, which caused two deaths and two serious injuries.
The first happened on April 16, in the town of Nabo (Vila Flor), causing the death of a 70-year-old man. On Sunday, in Faílde (Bragança), another accident caused the death of an 80-year-old man. And on Tuesday, an 83-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being run over by a tractor that he had left unbraked, in Freixiel (Vila Flor).
