Mother and son suspected of double murder in Mato Grosso hand themselves in to the police

CUIABÁ – Cattle rancher Inês Gemilaki and her son, doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz, identified as perpetrators of a double murder in the city of Peixoto de Azevedoin Mato Grossohanded themselves in to the police at around 12pm this Tuesday, 23rd.

Inês was filmed by security camera footage as the woman who fired the pistol shots that killed Pilson Pereira da Silva, aged 69, and Rui Luiz Bogo, aged 81, on Sunday, the 21st. Bruno accompanied his mother carrying a shotgun 12 gauge. Lawyer Angelita Kemper, who defends the two, said that, for now, she will not file a request to relax her clients’ prison terms.

At the police station, mother and son gave a statement, accompanied by the lawyer. This Wednesday, they will undergo a custody hearing. They remain trapped.

According to the Peixoto de Azevedo Civil Police, the two elderly people were killed by mistake. The police say that “the crime targeted the owner of the residence where the gathering was taking place”.

According to police information, minutes before the crime, Inês and her son Bruno registered a police report where they reported alleged threats against them, due to rent debts. She and her son allegedly owed money to the owner of the house where the deaths took place.

The defense of the victims’ family said that the crime was premeditated. Recording the bulletin would be an attempt to justify the crime.

In the morning, the Civil Police arrested two more people allegedly linked to the crime: Marcio Ferreira Gonçalves and his brother, Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues. The arrests of Márcio and Éder took place in a house in the central region of Alta Floresta, 800 kilometers from Cuiabá and 126 kilometers from Peixoto de Azevedo.

The delegate of the Civil Police of Alta Floresta, Thiago Marques Berger, informed that he will represent the conversion of the arrest in flagrante delicto into preventive detention, with no deadline for it to be closed.

Márcio is the husband of cattle rancher Inês and stepfather of doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz. He was the one who drove the Ford Ranger as the mother and son escaped. Éder would have confessed to participating in the crime, saying that he entered the house, the scene of the crime, together with Inês and Bruno.
