Anne Heche’s assets, at the time of her death, on August 11, 2022, were around 110 thousand dollars (around 103 thousand euros), including the amount left in a bank account, the royalties about her work as an actress, a company she owned and through which she managed her career, a stake in a limited company and some personal assets. Which, says the eldest son, is not enough to pay the compensation demanded by the tenant and owners of the house into which Heche collided with her car, which would end up resulting in her death.

Anne Heche was speeding and lost control of her vehicle on August 6, 2022, crashing first into the garage of an apartment complex and then into a residence. The car caught fire and the flames consumed the house, with extinguishing the fire involving around six dozen firefighters. Heche was declared brain dead five days later, and the actress was kept on artificial life support for two days as she was an organ donor.

The tenant of the house sued the family in November 2022 for “negligence”, “causing emotional distress” and “trespass”, demanding compensation of two million dollars. The owners have now filed a lawsuit against the heirs for material damages, asking for another two million dollars. At the same time, an ex-boyfriend of the actress, actor and producer Thomas Jane, filed a lawsuit against Heche’s estate because of a debt of 157 thousand dollars (close to 147 thousand euros), which the actress had proposed to pay in installments. of ten thousand dollars (€9,360) per month, starting in August 2021. However, Jane claims, only two installments were met, leaving a debt, with added interest, of almost 150 thousand dollars (more than 140 thousand euros) . Finally, the credit card debt was, at the time of the actress’ death, more than 30 thousand dollars (28 thousand euros).

The actress’s eldest son, Homer Heche Laffoon, 22, declared that he does not have the means to pay what is required of him, and is trying to “negotiate appropriate agreements” in order to “avoid prolonged and expensive litigation”. According to the young man, who is the result of the actress’ marriage to camera operator Coley Laffoon, since his mother’s death he has been trying to raise as much as possible to cover expenses, such as the launch of a memoir, Call Me Annein January 2023, but whose revenues should not exceed 25 thousand dollars.

The heir is still considering auctioning off some of his mother’s assets, but does not believe he will solve the problem that way. “Taking into account the expected value of the inventories and assessments as a whole, as well as the claims of creditors, the estate and successors are insolvent”, reads the report on the state of the estate prepared by Laffoon and cited by ET Online .

In addition to Laffoon, Anne Heche also left a minor son, Atlas Heche Tupper, aged 15, as a result of her relationship with actor James Tupper.
