Silvio Costa Filho (Republicans), minister of Ports and Airportsannounced that the department will investigate, together with the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the death of the golden retriever Joca.

According to the minister, the federal authorities’ initiative seeks to clarify the circumstances of the dog’s death as soon as possible. The two bodies also announced a working group to create national rules for the transport of pets.

The announcement was made on Tuesday (23) after a hearing between Silvio Costa Silva and the federal deputy Fernando Marangoni (União Brasil) and the state deputy Rafael Saraiva (União Brasil).

After Joca’s death, Gol, which says it regrets what happened, announced the suspension of air transport of animals in the hold from this Wednesday (24). According to the released statement, customers can still transport their pets in the aircraft cabin.

GOL sympathizes with the suffering of Joca’s guardian and his family. We understand his pain and are deeply sorry for the loss of your pet. The dog should have gone to Sinop (OPS), on flight G3 1480 on 04/22/2024, from Guarulhos (GRU), however, due to an operational failure the animal was boarded on a flight to Fortaleza (FOR).

As soon as the owner arrived in Sinop, he was notified about what had happened and his choice was to return to Guarulhos (GRU) to be reunited with his pet.

The GOLLOG team in the capital of Ceará unloaded the dog and took care of him until he boarded flight G3 1527 back to Guarulhos (GRU). During this period, records of the animal being accommodated back on the aircraft were sent to the owner. Unfortunately, shortly after the flight landed at Guarulhos airport, coming from Fortaleza, we were surprised by the death of the dog.

The Company is offering all necessary support to the tutor and his family from the outset. The investigation of the details of what happened is being carried out with total priority by our team.
