Solidarity Writing Class for Enem is held in Ouro Branco

-

With the aim of sharing writing techniques for candidates for the National High School Examination (Enem), the Solidarity Writing Aulão was held in Ouro Branco, on Monday, April 22nd, at the Escola Estadual Cônego Luiz Vieira da Silva. The project, developed by professor and journalist Éverlan Stutz, was awarded by the Government of Minas Gerais in the education category. More than 100 students from third-year classes at the school, located in the city center, participated in the educational action.

The initiative included simultaneous translation by Libras interpreter Erlan Souza, which allowed communication between deaf people. With a degree in Law and a postgraduate degree in inclusive education, Erlan considered the project to be of great importance for the school community. “All approaches to constructing a dissertation-argumentative text were guided, with emphasis on the students’ linguistic repertoire. This expands the possibilities for candidates to argue and draws the attention of the Enem essay evaluators”, emphasizes the professor who has worked as a Libras interpreter for five years.

Pedagogue Gardênia Martins, an education specialist at the school, highlighted that the project encourages students to write and encourages their participation in Enem. “We carried out an internal survey and realized that the majority of students do not want to take the Enem because of the essay. We have been concerned about this issue for a long time. The students’ fear is the essay. The project is valid in this sense because it breaks this fear of writing”, analyzes Gardênia.

Third-year high school student Giovanna Campos intends to enroll in the Law course at the Federal University of Ouro Preto. “I always studied at a public school and requested an exemption from the Enem fee. Even though we have a basis for writing an essay, we did not have access to the content presented by the teacher. The project is quite interesting because it presents several argumentative alternatives”, explains Giovanna.

The management of Escola Estadual Cônego Luiz Vieira da Silva promotes systematic actions to encourage student participation in Enem and to guarantee exemption from the registration fee. This week marks the deadline to request an exemption from the registration fee for the National High School Examination 2024. The request period ends next Friday, April 26th.

According to professor and journalist Éverlan Stutz, the partnership of public and private institutions is essential to guarantee the sustainability of the project. “We don’t do anything alone. The collaboration of people and entities guarantees the continuity of this educational action. We seek institutional support. But we faced difficulties in maintaining the project. T-shirts with the print of the poem in (version) are sold to ensure logistics and expand the reach of the initiative to other cities in the region”, argues Stutz.
