Anac asks Gol for information after pet death

Anac initiated an administrative process to determine the reasons that led to the death of the dog Joca on flight G3 1527 of Gol Linhas Aéreas between Fortaleza Airport (CE) and Guarulhos (SP). The process was opened after a request for information from the airline by the Agency and a meeting between the Agency’s CEO, Tiago Pereira, and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

Anac requested from Gol, among other information, details about the conditions for transporting the animal, its sending to a location other than the contracted one and the conditions for providing this type of service. The objective is to open an inspection process based on the findings.

Rules for transporting animals

The Agency clarifies that the transportation of pets and emotional assistance animals, when offered by airlines, implies their responsibility for the animals transported from boarding to receipt, applying the provisions contained in the contract signed between the parties.

Additionally, the provisions of Ordinance No. 12,307/2023, which addresses the general conditions for the air transportation of animals in the context of passenger flights, highlight that, in cases of damage caused to the pet or emotional assistance during transportation, the The air carrier must compensate the passenger in the ways listed in Resolution No. 400.
