Queue on BR-277 exceeds 7 km after fatal accident in PR

The accident recorded at km 128 of BR-277, at the end of Serra de São Luiz do Purunã, in Balsa Nova, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, causes long queues this Wednesday (24). According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the crash, which resulted in the death of a businessman, occurred around 10:30 pm this Tuesday (23), however, the truck has not yet been removed from the accident site.

The truck, which was loaded with rolls of paper, occupies one of the lanes of BR-277, towards Curitiba. Due to the incident, the vehicle flow continues only on half a lane, with guidance from PRF agents. At around 10:30 am, according to information from Via Araucária, the concessionaire that manages the stretch, the queue reached 7 kilometers.

In addition to the slowdown at km 128, due to the overturned truck, at km 125 there are infrastructure works.

Accident on BR-277

According to witnesses, the truck that caused the accident developed mechanical failures while descending the Serra de São Luiz do Purunã, on BR-277. The highway has no escape areas and the driver even made a maneuver to avoid a collision with more vehicles.

However, the truck overturned and with the force of the impact, a coil, weighing approximately one ton, fell on top of a pickup truck. One of the passengers in the vehicle succumbed to his injuries. The driver and another occupant of the truck were rescued by medical teams and taken to hospitals in Curitiba, with no risk of death.

Businessman dies in accident

The victim who died in an accident on BR-277, in Serra de São Luiz do Purunã, on Tuesday night (23), was identified as Aronildo Bueno da Silva. Better known as Pacheco, the man was heading towards Curitiba, around 10:30 pm, this Tuesday (23), when he suffered the accident.

The businessman killed on BR-277 had a water filter company in São dos Pinhais, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. Friends and family paid tribute to Pacheco on social media.

“My dear brother-in-law. Exemple of life. Esteemed by all. We are devastated,” wrote a family member.
