Transport rules
With the accumulation of complaints regarding the transport of animals, Anac clarified some rules. In a note published this Tuesday (23), the agency lamented the death of the dog and informed that all regulations are set out in Ordinance No. 12,307/2023.
The contracted airline must be responsible for the animals from boarding to delivery. Joca’s guardian family, however, said that the animal was left inside the kennel in the sun on the track, after being taken to the wrong destination. Gol also would not have called any veterinarian to evaluate the dog.
The air carrier must compensate the passenger if any damage occurs to the animal. Companies, however, are not required to offer pet transportation services. The transport of guide dogs, on the other hand, must be provided to enable the movement of visually impaired passengers.

Joca was supposed to be taken from Guarulhos International Airport (SP) to Sinop (MT), where his guardian was waiting for him, but he ended up in Fortaleza. After discovering the error in the animal’s destination, it returned to Guarulhos, but arrived dead at the airport in São Paulo.
