“He is very sorry,” the woman said. “We always teach him not to get into fights.”

Despite having presented himself to the Civil Police, the boy began to avoid public spaces, afraid of threats. “He is hidden, without going out on the street or even studying”, she concluded.

The teenager died on Tuesday (16), in Santa Casa de Santos. His father, Julisses Fleming, stated that his son was healthy and believes that his death occurred as a result of the attack he suffered. As determined by g1the case was registered with the Civil Police and the cause of death is still being investigated.

To the g1, clinical doctor Carlos Machado explained what bilateral bronchopneumonia is. According to him, it is a ‘wider’ infection than pneumoniawhich is usually caused by a virus and can be worsened by bacteria in both lungs.

Before declaring death, at the request of the g1Carlos Machado and clinical doctor Marcelo Bechara analyzed the case based on their own professional experiences and information provided by the reporting team.

Both stated that excess weight on their backs could have led to trauma. — injuries caused by a traumatic event external to the body that happens unexpectedly.

According to Carlos Machado, the trauma could have been a fracture or crushing of the vertebra in the cervical, thoracic spine and even the rib.

“If he has one of these injuries, […] It could be puncturing the lung, which makes breathing difficult and, breathing less, causes accumulated secretion, which is a lung infection”, said the professional.

Marcelo Bechara added that, for the same reason, a cardiorespiratory arrest occurs. “Excess weight on the back may have led to trauma that could lead to a pneumothorax […], [quando] the lungs can’t ventilate and at some point there’s even cardiac arrest,” he said.

The Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo (SSP-SP) stated that the case was registered as a suspicious death and is being investigated by the 1st Police District (DP) of Praia Grande. As determined by g1Carlos’ body will undergo an autopsy – a medical procedure that examines the cause of death.
